May 09 Update

I have nearly achieved completeness with my Black Templars. And by that I mean I have painted and based enough models to field 4000 points for Apocalypse.

This does not mean that I don't still have a basement full of models waiting to be built/painted.

Still left undone:

Vindicator- unopened.
Titanhammer Squads (Thunderhammer Terminators)- mostly bitz in a bag. Build and paint.
LR Crusader/Redeemer- Unbuilt. Still no rules for Redeemer for Templars, so will likely hold off for a while yet.
3 Drop Pods- Unbuilt (and one failed attempt that is likely destined to become terrain).
Various misc. Marine bodies at various stages of completion. May leave the unpainted one alone in case I decide to do a squad for a different chapter.
10 Neophytes on sprue.
Thunderfire Cannon- unopened and may remain so until it become legal for Templars.
Helbrecht and Grimaldus- prepped and filed. Likely my next casual projects.

And that's where I stand. Not too horrible, really.

The bad news is I've caught the Hordes bug. I'm starting a Circle of Orobos army and I have Kromac the Ravenous staring me down, demanding paint. I'm not sure how long I can hold out. In fact, I just failed my save talking about it. I'm off to paint some fur for a chance. :D

Debriefing- Apoc 4/11/09 Miniature Market

"The Battle for the Sliver of Ground"

Rounds played: 4
1. Genestealers are broken in CC even if they DON'T get to charge. Shoot only, do not engage.
2. Templates are a must. Build Vindicator and buy 2 more ASAP.
3. Multiple Chaplains is a great choice. Drop Chappy in Honor Guard along with all other CC builds and go strickly shooty. Keep Apothecary and bolters only. Take Fighting Co Champion and Standard Bearer only if you want to show off (or to fill out points in big games).
4. Flamers. Need more.
5. Build other drop pods and fill them with shooty troops. Load Crusader up with CC Termies.
6. Dreadnaughts worked well.
7. Work on building other LR and try to make the sponsons swappable between Redeemer and Crusader pattern.
8. Build other Land Speeder
9. Build new neophytes.
10. More Sword Brethren? They did nothing this time because I deployed them away from the action. Must use Infiltrate better.
11. Build Titanhammer Squads.
12. Create Hammer of Dorn unit of legend data sheet (Titanhammer Squads led by Marshall and 2 Termy Chaplains. Get rid of Fearless and get Fleet.)

Will edit later.

Buster Hymen

Cause it's too bare, here is a little update on what is going on with the Howard Crusade:

Last night I took inventory of my 4000 pts I want to take for the Miniature Market Apocalypse game. Naturally, I fell just a tad short. So by Saturday I have to:

Finish painting, flocking, backpacking and shoulder padding 8 Templars.
Finish painting and flocking 3 novitiates.
Finish painting my tank-killer Dreadnaught.
Build, paint, flock, backpack, and shoulder pad a Templar Honor Guard w/flamer (parts based and torso and legs assembled/painting in progress).
Finish painting the body of my Honor Guard Standard Bearer and rig up an appropriately cool Chapter Banner.
Finish painting and assembling my Terminator Marshall, including shoulder pads (90% done).
Organize everything into trays and pack into 2 army transports.
Organize my army lists, rule books, and playing accessories and pack.
Paint and assemble Templar Objective marker if time allows (base modelled. Still need to basecoat and paint, then assemble and flock. May do another if time).

For my esteemed partner I must also do the following:

Finish power sword on WH Inquisitor (nearly complete) and flock base.
Finish MMelta gun servitor (80% done) and flock base.
Flock bound psyker base and any misc retinue bases that aren't done.
Finish painting and assembling Inquisitorial LR (80% done)
Finish painting IG Baneblade and Basilisks(2) (pre-painting done. Now begins the finishing touches).
Help with any last minute infantry that aren't quite done.

I think that about covers it. And I still have tonight and tomorrow. I'm WAY ahead of my normal schedule, but I am trying to work in some wife time today, so that may set me back. But it's worth it.
